A traffic police has been reportedly beaten up by a government employee in for stopping his vehicle in Chowhatta area of Sylhet city.
Locals said Tanzil Ahmed, riding on a motorcycle, tried to use the wrong side of the one-way road from Chowhatta to Zindabazar around 5:30pm on Saturday, ignoring traffic signal.
Md Ali, who was the on-duty policeman at that time, tried to obstruct his path.
Later, Tanzil got down from his motorcycle, snatched Ali’s baton and beat him badly. However, the government employee was detained by other traffic police.
Tanzil Ahmed works for One House One Farm (Ektee Bari Ektee Khamar), an alleviation project under the Ministry of Local Government.
Ali has been admitted to a hospital following the incident.
Deputy Police Commissioner (traffic) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police Faisal Mahmud told that a case will be filed against Tanzil for attacking a police.
