Chattogram Bureau :
The road transport system of Chattogram is likely to go to fall into
a dire crisis due to the height of the bridge above the railway line.
When the Bangabandhu Tunnel under Karnaphuli opens next December, the traffic situation in Chattogram will become dire. There will be traffic jams across the city. Despite the implementation of the project by spending thousands of crores of taka, only due to
the problem of the height of the railway bridge, all the arrangements have come to a standstill. Concerns have started to take shape with regard to feeder road number three of Chattogram’s Patenga-Fouzdarhat Outer Ring Road and two bridges of Fauzdarhat-Bayezid Link Road.
According to sources, Bangladesh Railway has about three thousand kilometers of railway lines across the country.
The railway line across the country has been divided into two parts with the River Jamuna in between.
Among these, the western side of the Jamuna is named as the western region and the eastern side as the eastern region. There are 1427km of railway line in western region and 1274km of railway line in eastern region. Bridges have been constructed in areas where roads or highways cross over railway lines.
There are hundreds of such bridges across the country. In Chattogram, there has been a complication in determining the height of two such bridges on the railway line.
Due to which the traffic situation of Chattogram is gradually getting threatened. As this crisis has not been resolved even with various initiatives, not only projects worth thousands of crores of taka have been spended, it is feared that the traffic will come to a standstill in the next few days.
