Traders in the port city irrespective of wholesale and retailers have been asked to keep the prices of essential commodities reasonable during the holy month of Ramzan.
This view was expressed at the meeting between City Mayor AJM Nasiruddin and the police commissioner Md. Iqbal Bahar at Nagar Bhaban yesterday.
During the meet city mayor urges CMP authority to maintain the law and order situation during the period to ease the sufferings of the city dwellers. He asked to main traffic management with discipline manner to avoid unbearable traffic congestions and to preserve the sanctity of the holy Ramadan.
Police commissioner apprised the city mayor about the future plans of the city;s stable law and order and traffic management.
The common people should not be worried as supply and stock situations of the essential commodities are quite normal and satisfactory to contain increase of market prices during the coming Ramadan in the district, they said in the discussions.
At the same time, the business community leaders asked to extend co-operations to law enforcing agencies in discharging their duties with honestly and punctuality. City Mayor in his brief discussion urged the businesspersons to conduct their businesses with normal profits during the holy month of Ramadan like in the other periods of the year.
“Steps would be taken with assistance of all concerned organisations to keep prices of the essentials stable and tolerable and a Bazaar Monitoring Committee will work for ensuring supply of pure and hygienic food stuffs during Ramadan,” they opined..
Among others, Secretary of City corporation Abul Hossain, Additional police commissioner Masudul Hasan, and Deputy Police commissioner (traffic) Sujaet Islam were present on the occasion, a CCC sources said.
