A trader was shot dead by some miscreants in Bijoypur intersection area of Lalpur upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Alok Bagchi. He was doing business in Gopalpur area in the upazila after returning home from Malaysia.
Police said some unidentified miscreants called Alok from his house at Thakurbari of Gopalpur and took him to Bijoypur intersection where they shot him in broad daylight, leaving him severely injured at 3:30 pm and fled away.
Locals rushed him to Upazila Health Complex where doctor declared him dead.
Officer-in-charge of Lalpur Police Station Nazrul Islam Jewel said that the motive behind the murder could not be known yet.
