Unidentified miscreants shot dead a businessman on the Basila Road in the city’s Mohammadpur area on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Anisur Rahman (45). He used to live in a rented flat on the Basila Road and was a resident of Kaladia in Keraniganj Upazila in Dhaka district.
The deceased neighbour Sujon said, the miscreants opened fire targeting him and left him critically injured beside the road in front of his house around 7:30am. The victim succumbed to his injuries around at 08.30 am in the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). He received bullets in his chest, said DMCH doctor.Deceases elder brother Shahidullah said, Anis was returning to his residence at about 7.15am after dropping his two children in school. Apparently he had no enemy.
Another brother of the deceased Shafiullah said, Anis had 26 decimals of land in the Ashulia area. Three months ago, he sold the land for tk 2.5 crore.
Anis was enggaged in grill business in the city’s Katasur area at Mohammadpur. He is survived by wife Ismat Ara and two children Anita and Anik.
Azizul Haque Officer-In-Charge of Mohammadpur Police Station said, the miscreants went away safely after shoting him. The motive behind the killing could not be known immidiately. We are looking into the matter.
