A trader was hacked to death allegedly by his step brother over land dispute at Housenagar in Shibganj upazila early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Jahangir Ali, 55, an egg trader and son of Bisharad Ali of the area.
Mahbub Alam Khan, additional superintendent of Chapainawabganj Police, said Jahangir had an enmity with his step brother Ketab Ali over a piece of land for long.
On Thursday night, Ketab Ali swooped on Jahangir on his way home and slaughtered him.
On information, police recovered the body in the morning and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Later, police arrested Ketab Ali along with a weapon.
