Trader beaten to death

A generator trader has been beaten to death in broad daylight at Hajiganj of Fatulla here.
The deceased Mahbubul Haq Bablu, son of late Jalaluddin of Hajiganj area, and a mechanic by profession, was carrying out generator business for 20 years at Hajiganj area.
However, late Benu Mia’s son Alam and his brothers of Tolla Suparibag, were attempting to grab the generator business of Mahbubul for the last one year and centering this a tussle was going on among them.
As a sequel to this, seven to eight of the terrorist gang including Alam, Rakib, Polash and Khaleque picked up Mahbubul from a tea stall around 2.30am on Monday morning, beat him up mercilessly and threw him on the road. Later, hearing his screaming the people nearby rushed to the scene but the attackers managed to flee.
Locals rushed him to Khanpur 300 bed hospital in critical condition where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. Police arrested one person named Rakib in this connection from the spot.
Advocate Mojid Khandker, uncle of the deceased, claimed that Mahbubul was a peace-loving man and had no disagreements with anyone. He was carrying on generator business for the last twenty years peacefully. However, the miscreants led by Alam were disrupting his business for the last couple of years. Failing to grab the business, Alam and his accomplices beat Mahbubul to death.
Aslam Hossain, OC of Fatulla Model Police Station, said that they have detained one person named Rakib. Process is on to file a case. The body of the deceased has been sent to Narayanganj morgue for autopsy.
