Tractor driver killed

A tractor driver was killed after a soil chunk from a hill fell on him at Chowdhury Para (Boidda Tilla) under Ramgarh upazila here on Friday afternoon. He was identified as Mohammad Sahabuddin, 21, son of Abdul Mannan of the area. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ramgarh Police Station Mainuddin Khan said a group of 10-labourers led by the deceased driver Sahabuddin were hired by one Mohammad Alam of the village. On Friday morning, they went to Purba Chowdhury Para (Boiddo Tilla) to cut down a hill. At one stage, a soil chunk fell on Sahabuddin, injuring him critically.
Locals rushed him to Ramgarh Upazila Health Complex at first and gave him first aid. After Friday noon, the duty doctor referred him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital as his condition worsened, and he died at Manikchhari on the way. Ramgarh Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Iqbal Hossain and Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mainuddin Khan visited the spot. An unnatural death (UD) case was field with the police station, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Rubel Afrad, also investigation officer of the case.
Meanwhile, owner of the hill Mohammad Alam fled soon after the incident.
