A Town Hall meeting was held in New York on 26th January to brief the local NRB Engineers and media. Engr Azadul Haq, Chairman, B2B and Convener of CONE 2019, was accompanied by the Chief Guest PR to UN Ambassador Masud Bin Momen, and special guest of honor, Consul General Sadia Faizunnessa. The meeting was attended by over 40 NRB Engineers.
The meeting started off with a presentation led by Engr. Azadul Haq. He said that the idea of this convention was championed by Engr. Ghulam Mohammed Alomgir. He announced it in a bi-annual AABEA convention in September 2018 at New York. Bridge2Bangladesh is organizing the event.
He explained that there are three components of the convention, NRB Engineers, the Government and the private sector. He said that the current government is providing B2B with unprecedented cooperation. He said that B2B is currently working with A2i, Economic Relations Division (ERD), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Cabinet Division, ICT Division, USAID, UNDP, BIDA, BEZA, High-Tech Park Authority, IEB, IDEB, AABEA and Bangladesh Innovation Forum. The Chief Adviser of the Convention is national professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Chowdhury and the keynote will be presented by Engr. Ghulam Mohammed Alomgir, Chairman of Max Group.
The Chief Guest H. E. Ambassador Masud Bin Momen, appreciated the idea of CONE 2019 and found it to be very impressive and timely. He wished it a good luck and suggested to focus on infusing technology in the education sector. He also emphasized the importance of 4th Industrial Revolution activities in Bangladesh and felt that CONE will be helpful for 4IR.
Consul General Sadia Faizunnessa, referred B2B as an amazing platform for Bangladesh. She also re-iterated what the Ambassador had said about the importance of 4th Industrial Revolution and expressed her full support for CONE.
Mohamed Alamgir, Executive Member, B2B, showed his gratitude and praised the Government for the cooperation. Mr. Razzaque Chokder started his speech by paying respect to the father of Nation and emphasized on the steps that he took to ignite the nations spirit at times of crisis and have helped the nation to take steps from being a very poor to become a developed country. The very first Convention of NRB Engineers (CONE) 2019 will be held on 26th and 27th February 2019 at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel and it inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The purpose of the convention is to bring the NRB Engineers from across the globe and help facilitate their engagement to the development activities in Bangladesh.
