S.M.Solaiman, District and Session Judge of Bagerhat, in a judgment delivered on Wednesday convicted one Md. Solaiman (35), a tourist and son of one Nabiullah of village Mohammadpur under Kalamganj Upazila in Noakhali district and sentenced him to be hanged till his death on the charge of killing Al-amin (18), a ward boy of Singapore residential hotel, situated on Abdul Hye Road of Mongla Poura port town. .
The judgment delivered in absentia of the convicted person. Deceased hotel boy Al-amin was the son of one Delwar Hossain of village Bhatkhali under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat . He was working in he the hotel as a hotel boy.
The prosecution story, in short, is that on August 5, 2007 the convicted person and his 7/ 8 associates arrived at Mongla port town in order to visit Sundarban forest and hired a room in the 4th floor of Singapore residential hotel in Mongla port town. Manager of the hotel engaged deceased hotel boy Al-Amin as the ward boy to attend the tourists. Tourist Solaiman and his associates while were residing in the hotel visited the world heritage Sundarban forest for 2 days.
On August 7 mid night Solaiman returned to the hotel and began to beat hotel boy Al-amin mercilessly and at one stage he (the accused) strangulated Al-amin to death with the a towel. Later tourist Solaiman kept the dead body in the bath room, broke the almirah of the hotel and decamped with cash Tk. 40 thousand. In the following morning the hotel manger did not find Al-Amin, searched him in the hotel and found his dead body in the allotted room in 4rth floor of the hotel.
Then the manager informed the police of the matter.
