The government and different organisations have chalked out various colourful programmes to celebrate the World Tourism Day with the global theme ‘Tourism and Digital Transformation’.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday issued separate messages ahead of the day. In his message, the President said Bangladesh has great opportunity to develop tourism with her immense resources like attractive natural beauty, biodiversity, sea beaches, the world’s largest mangrove forest, wild life, archaeological sites, monuments,
hills, ethnic diversity, rich traditional handicraft and cottage industry. The government, he said, has given emphasis on utilizing digital technologies for the promotion of tourism potentials at home and abroad. “I hope, all the stakeholders will come forward to use digital technologies for the smooth operation of tourism business in Bangladesh,” the President said.
In her message, Prime Minister said the greatest Bangali of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, established Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation in 1972 realizing the huge potential of tourism in Bangladesh.
