Tourism complex, exclusive tourist zone in cox’s Bazar

The government has approved construction of an international standard Tourism Complex and Exclusive Tourist Zone projects in Cox’s Bazar keeping provision of public-private partnership (PPP).
The approval came from Wednesday ‘s meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) after the ministry of civil aviation and tourism placed the projects. Finance Minister A M A Muhith presided over the CCEA meeting.
Briefing the reporters after the meeting, Mostafizur Rahman, Joint-secretary of cabinet division, said: “The CCEA, in principal, approved the construction of Cox’s Bazar Exclusive Tourist Zone project under Public-Private Partnership (PPP).”
The exclusive zone would be constructed in Sabrang area of Teknaf upazila, which would have different kinds of tourism facilities including several five-star hotels, Cottages, Beach Villa, Night Club, Convention Hall and Amusement Park etc.
The tourist zone would be set up on nearly 165 acres of land.
Mostafizur Rahman informed the CCEA also approved, in principal, the Establishment of International Standard Tourism Complex at Exciting Motel Upal Compound of BPC at Cox’s Bazar.
Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) will implement the project on the site of Motel Upal. Watch Tower, Shopping Mall, Food Court, Cineplex and Swimming Pool will be constructed on 5.76 acres of land owned by BPC.
The CCEA also gave consent to construct Shopping Mall cum Guest House under PPP on unused land of Bangladesh Railway in Khulna.
Request for Proposal (RFP) directly without Request for Qualification (RFQ) for appointing developer to set up Economic Zone in Mongla of Bagerhat was also approved by the CCEA meeting today.
