BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday vowed to launch tougher movement to free their party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and a fair polls.
“There is no alternative to wage tougher movement to release our party chief Begum Khaleda Zia from jail and compel the government to step down to make a way for an inclusive election,” Mirza Fakhrul said while addressing a discussion meeting in the Engineers Institute Auditorium in the city on the occasion marking Independence Day and the National Day.
Mirza Fakhrul said, the people of the country are in peril for misrule of the present Awami League led government.
There is no democracy in the country. The government obstructed every democratic programme of the BNP.
The international community also knows that. The country has enlisted as a autocratic state now. It is shameful for the freedom fighters and every one of this country.
“The people of the country are waiting for an opportunity to wage strong movement.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir presided over the programme.
BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain was the Chief Guest. BNP Standing Committee Members Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircer, Mirza Abbas, Dr. Abdul Moen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
