The journalists leaders on Wednesday demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment to the killers of the journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi.
They also threatened to launch tough movement if their demand is not meet soon.
They said this in different programmes including discussion and protest rally to mark the 3rd death anniversary of the journalist couple.
Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) arranged a protest rally in front of the DRU at 12pm.
DRU President Shakhawat Hossain Badsha presided over the rally while its General Secretary Elias Hossain moderated it.
President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalist (BFUJ) Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, General Secretary of National Press Club Syed Abdal Ahmed, President of Dhaka Union of Journalists Altaf Mahmood (DUJ), pro-Awami League (AL) group, and President of DUJ Kabi Abdul Hai Sikder, pro-BNP group, and General Secretary of DUJ Kuddus Afrad, pro-AL group, and General Secretary of DUJ Jahangir Alam Prodhan, pro-BNP group, and President of Bangladesh Crime Reporters’ Association (CRAB) Isaraf Hossain Isa and General Secretary of Quamruzzaman Khan, former President of DRU Shaheed Chowdhury, former General Secretary of DUJ Shaban Mahmud and former General Secretary of DRU Jamal Ahmed, former Organising Secretaries of DRU Razu Ahmed and Mursalin Nomani addressed the rally, among others.
