Toufiqur’s 3rd solo watercolour exhibition ongoing at EMK Center

The 3rd solo watercolour exhibition by artist Toufiqur Rahman titled Heart of the Vein Series is going on at EMK Centre in the capital’s Dhanmondi area. The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof Dr Bazlur Rashid Khan of Department of Fine Arts at Jagannath University and Ismail Chowdhury, Executive Director, Ismail-Suzuki Art Gallery at Fukuroi City, Shizuoka in Japan, on December 28, 2021. Toufiqur’s 30 watercolour paintings are put on display in the exhibition. According to the artist, the
artworks are presenting classic cars, ships, abandoned vehicles which can be compared to human life in the
sense of energy, rapidity, rhythm, declination of human life. While talking about his artworks, Toufiqur Rahman said that the idea of giving the titled Heart of the Vein Series is to compare the relatedness, coherence of heart and vein with the span of painting. In the art arena, the term ‘painting’ is used to describe both the act of painting and the resulting artwork created by the action.
In most of his artworks, Toufiqur portrayed the rail paths which are the symbol of veins and the steam engine resembles the heart which collectively gives a vintage outlook in every frame. Artist Toufiqur Rahman was born in Dhaka in 1974. He completed BFA from Government Art College in Chattogram in 1997 and MFA from Department of Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts of Chittagong University in 2011. Worked as drawing faculty at Scholastica School, Toufiqur is now working as visual art teacher at Abdul Kadir Molla International School in Narsingdi.
The exhibition will end on January 8. The gallery remains open for all from 10:00am to 7:45pm.
