Rangpur Medical College (RMC) Hospital has arrested six more members of the middlemen’s gang. They are accused of cheating and extorting money from patients who come to the hospital for medical treatment.
The arrested are Tarek Hossain, Asad Ali, Mofiz Uddin, Milon Mia, Alauddin and Raihan Mia. They were arrested on Monday (November 18) at noon in a raid on various wards of Romek Hospital. At this time the documents given to the patients were recovered from them.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police(Intelligence) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Uttam Prasad Pathak confirmed the information and said that six people were arrested from Rangpur Medical College Hospital today. Earlier, 11 more brokers and fraudsters were arrested in three such raids. In this operation, 18 members of the brokers and fraudsters involved in the medical services sector were arrested in the operation of the detective police.
He adds that for a long time, there have been incidents of harassment ofbrokers and cheating of patients at Romek Hospital. In the wake of these allegations, the police conducted raids and arrested those involved in the brokers and fraudsters. However, it is being investigated whether anyone else is involved in this cycle.
The DB police official said such operations would continue.The Rangpur Metropolitan Police’s intelligence department has raided various sclinics and hospitals in the city in the last few months. Many illegal entities, including jails and fines, have been sealed through mobile courts.
Police also raided the Rangpur Medical College Hospital area and arrested five people on October 2, two on November 12 and four on November 14 and today six more, a total of 18 brokers and fraudsters. Legal action has been taken against them on various charges.
