Four police officials including Officer Incharge of Sadarghat thana , SI Md. Salek were sued before the court in Chittagong for alleged beating and oppression to Abdul Rahim Zillu whois the former central deputy Environment secretary on March 19 last. Chatra league leader Abdur RAhim Jillu filed the case accusing four police officials including OC of Sadarghat thana before the court of Magistrate Farid Ahmed yesterday afternoon.
The counsel of the accused Advocate Akbar Ali told that court took the case in cognizance Eye witnesses sources said Sadarghat thana police mercilessly beat the central BCL leader Abdur Rahim Zillu at Al Islamia Hotel of north Nalapara centring a tripling matter and thana OC brought the leader and his wife at thana custody . Sensing the news of arrest of BCL leader, chatra league activists stormed in thana presmises and ransackthe vehicles in road and siege road and then snatched away the leader from the thana custody.
Meanwhile Chittagong city ChHatra League Unit gave ultimatum to Police commissioner to withdraw OC Moinul from Sadarghat thana immediately otherwise indefinite protest programs will be enforces, sources said.
