A number of kanca dwelling houses were completely and partially damaged, a number of trees were uprooted and electricity supply lines were torn when suddenly a tornado like storm swept over the village Jpymoni within Chila Union Parishad under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat district on Saturday evening, according to a delayed report received here. It was confirmed by Gazi Akram Hossain, Cahirman of the Union Parishad.
The UP Chairman disclosed, in the evening just at the time of Magrib prayer all on a sudden the storm accompanied with rains that lasted for a few minutes swept over the village.
As a result, three kancha dwelling houses (belonging to Md. Gaffor, Shamsu Chowkidar and Kalam Sardar) were completely damaged while some 8/10 kancha houses were partially damaged, a number of big trees were uprooted and electricity supply lines were torn.
The loss of the storm is primarily ascertained as Taka several lakh.
