Defender of Bangladesh National Football team Topu Barman hopes they will get positive result against their opponents at home matches of FIFA World Cup (WC) Qualifiers 2022 and AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers 2023. Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan on October 8, face India on November 12 and meet Oman on November 17.
Besides, Bangladesh will play against Qatar at Doha, the capital city of Qatar on October 13. It is the Red and Green out-fit’s away match.
Topu said he is expecting that they will get advantages against Afghanistan, India and Oman as the matches will be held at their home grounds.
While sharing thoughts through a video message on Tuesday, he said they performed well all of their away matches of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers 2022 and AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers 2023 and hopes they will carry out the same performance at the home ground.
Topu said, “We shall play against Afghanistan on October 8 in our first home match. We have been out of training for more than three months. I hope that our camp will start in the mid of the August under the Head Coach of Jamie Day and we shall get enough time to prepare for the match. The home side always enjoys some extra advantages. We had a good fight against Afghanistan in the away match in Tajikistan, though we lost the match conceding a late goal there. But, if we compare as team-wise, we are better than them. We did very well in the away match. So, I expect we shall do well in the home match against Afghanistan. Actually I’m expecting a positive result.”
He said, “We had almost won against India at our away match but unfortunately conceded the late goal in the 89th minute. It was our bad luck. I think we shall now play a positive role against India. We know about Indian team. We played matches against them. I found no difference between our conditions, both of us are in an equal position. It is going to be a 50-50 affairs. Besides, we shall have an extra advantage at our home match.”
Terming Oman as a strong opponent, the national defender said, “We know Oman are the strong opponents. We lost the match conceding 1-4 goals defeat to Oman at our away match. I feel that it was the toughest match of our World Cup Qualifiers campaign. We played our away match, now Oman will come to play their away match. We shall try hard to defend against them. All of us will try to show a better brand of football against Oman. I hope if we perform well at the team level against them, then we will get positive result. Finally, I hope we shall get positive results in our three upcoming home matches.”
