The 4th edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Twenty20 Cricket came to an end on Friday last. Dhaka Dynamites emerged as the champions of the AKS Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 Cricket defeating Rajshahi Kings by 56 runs in the final at the flood-lit Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
We focused Saturday the top five batsmen, who shone with the willow, were:
1.Tamim Iqbal : Captain of Chittagong Vikings dashing opener Tamim Iqbal performed extremely well in batting. He scored 476 runs playing 13 matches with a remarkable average of 43.27. He cracked six half centuries. His highest score was 75.
2.Mahmudullah Riyad : Dependable batsman of Khulna Titans Mahmudullah Riyad showed a consistent performance in the BPL. He scored 396 runs playing 14 matches with a notable average of 33.00. He cracked two half centuries. His highest score was 62. He also shone with the cherry. He begged 10 wickets. He was adjudged the Player of the Series.
3.Sabbir Rahman was the only batsman who hit a century in the 4th edition of BPL. Sabbir, who played for Rajshahi Kings notched up 122 against Barisal Bulls. He scored 377 runs playing 15 matches with a good average of 26.92. He also made a half-century.
4.Sri Lankan ace batsman Kumar Sangakkara, who played for Dhaka Dynamites, scored 370 runs playing 13 matches with a remarkable average of 28.46. He struck two half centuries. His highest score was 66. He was adjudged the Man of the Final.
5.Afghan batsman Mohammad Shahzad, who played for Rangpur Riders, scored 350 runs playing 11 matches with a respectable average of 38.88. He made two half centuries. His highest score was 80 (not out).
The other batsmen, who scored 300 or above 300 runs in the 4th edition of BPL were: Mehedi Maruf of Dhaka Dynamites scored 347 runs playing 14 matches, Mushfiqur Rahim of Barisal Bulls scored 341 runs playing 12 matches, Marlon Samuels of Comilla Victorians scored 334 runs playing eight matches, Mominul Haque of Rajshahi Kings scored 331 runs playing 15 matches, Mohammad Mithun of Rangpur Riders scored 320 runs playing 12 matches and Mosaddek Hossain of Dhaka Dynamites scored 304 runs playing 14 matches.
