BNP’s office sources said, about 89 lakh leaders and activists of the party were accused in more than one lakh cases in the last 10 years.
At least 36 cases were sued against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, 130 cases against party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, 87 cases against party’s Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, 17 cases against Standing Committee Member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, 28 cases against Barrister Moudud Ahmed, 16 cases against Tariqul Islam, 87 cases against Mirza Abbas, 30 cases against Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, 10 cases against Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, one case against Abdul Moeen Khan and Nazrul Islam Khan, 76 cases against BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, 185 cases against Joint Secretary General Moazzem Hossain Alal and 107 cases against Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, the source claimed.

Hundreds of workers and leaders of the BNP and other political parties are gathering everyday in the Supreme Court for anticipatory bail in cases filed by the law enforcers.
Sources said, the number of the bail seekers is increasing day by day after September 1, the date of BNP’s 40th founding anniversary.
The High Court (HC) on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to seven top BNP leaders, including its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a criminal case. The six other BNP leaders are Nazrul Islam Khan, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu and Amanullah Aman.
Police filed the case with Hatirjheel Police Station on October 1.
Yesterday, the High Court bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Kashefa Hussain granted bail to the seven leaders till submission of police report in the lower court.
The bench passed the order after hearing two separate bail petitions filed by the accused BNP leaders seeking bail in the case filed on charges of provocation against the government.
The accused petitioners appeared before the HC judges for bail in the case.
The case filed with Hatirjheel Police Station on October 1 also names BNP leaders Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and 46 other party men as accused.
Barrister Moudud Ahmed secured anticipatory bail from the High Court on Tuesday.
The case statement reads that the leaders delivered “provocative and anti-government speeches” at the rally on Sunday, and party supporters committed the offences while returning from the programme.
Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain, Advocate Zainul Abedin and Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan appeared for the accused BNP leaders.
