Wicket-keeper batsman, Tom Blundell, has been added to New Zealand’s Test team as cover for BJ Watling, who suffered a hamstring injury during the course of New Zealand’s big win over Bangladesh in the second Test in Wellington. He was substituted by uncapped wicket-keeper, Peter Bocock, on the final day of the Test.
Speaking to the media at the conclusion of the Test, head coach, Gary Stead, had said that Watling didn’t take the gloves on the final day so as to give himself more time to recuperate before the third and final Test, starting on March 16, in Christchurch.
New Zealand have now confirmed that the 28-year Blundell has been officially added to the squad as cover and a final call regarding Watling’s participation in Christchurch will be taken on Friday.
