Tofail urges Cambodian businessmen to import Bangladeshi products

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said Cambodian businessmen could be benefited by importing world-class products from Bangladesh.
“Bangladesh is exporting quality pharmaceuticals, RMG, plastic, leather and jute-made products etc to different countries comparatively lower price, and you (Cambodian Businessmen) would be benefited by importing these,” he added.
The minister, who is now visiting Cambodia, made the remarks while inaugurating a workshop with his Cambodian counterpart Pan Sorasak in Phnom Penh, said a ministry release on Thursday.
Cambodian Commerce Ministry and the Trade Training and Research Institute (TTRI) have jointly organised the three-day workshop “International Trade, Finance and Development of Global Value Chain”.
Tofail Ahmed said Asian countries are needed strong position in global economy and financial system, as well as removed the existing economic disparity among the member countries.
Deputy Governor of Cambodian National Bank Ouk Maly made keynote presentation on foreign trade and SME. A total of 140 bankers and businessmen from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar and Thailand are taking part in the event. Of the total, 52 bankers are from Bangladesh.
Later, commerce ministers of both the countries held a view exchange meeting with the businessmen.
