Tofail stresses on international cooperation for LDCs in trade

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed has laid emphasis on international cooperation to strengthen Least Developed Countries (LDCs) efficiency to contribute more in world trade, reports BSS.
“UNCTAD and other organizations have been playing important role for the socio-economic development of LDCs through increasing trade volume and hope they would continue it, as international support is inevitable to attain SDGs,” he added.
The minister was addressing Ministerial Conference of G-77 and China in the fourteenth session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD 14) on behalf of the LDCs at Kenya International Conference Centre, said a ministry release received here today from Nairobi.
Mentioning that LDCs are yet to be self-reliance in supplying necessary resources, construction of infrastructure, technical and technological assistances, and training and research, Tofail said the LDCs are still needed cooperation strongly in these sectors.
He said UNCTAD could spearhead to eliminate the deadlocks towards implementing the decisions taken for the welfare of LDCs.
