Tofail invites Thai businessmen to invest in SEZs

Inviting the Thai entrepreneurs to Bangladesh, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed Wednesday said the government is setting up 100 special economic zones (SEZs) in the country and the Thai investors would be accommodated to one of those if they want.
“In Bangladesh, there are enormous scopes of investment and Thai businessmen could invest here taking the opportunities being provided by the government to foreign entrepreneurs,” he added.
The minister made the call while inaugurating the four-day “Thailand Week 2017” in capital’s Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel as chief guest.
Referring to the Bangladesh Expo in Thailand last year, Tofail said they have received positive response from it and Bangladeshi products could gain good response in Thai market if the businessmen work properly.
Terming Thailand as the good friend of Bangladesh, he said: “We have to work more to boost bilateral trade.”
The minister opined Bangladesh and Thailand could work together in health sector.
Department of International Trade Promotion and Royal Thai Embassy have jointly organized the promotional week of Thai products for the 15th times which will remain open at 10am to 8pm.
Organizers said they have kept first two days only for businessmen while last days will open for visitors.
Different organizers including cosmetic, RMG, electronic, jewelry, confectionary and drinks as well as domestic products producing firms are taking part at the Thai Week to showcase their items.
