The ruling party students wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Monday threatened the on duty journalists of different print media and news agency of Bangladesh Agricultural University Journalists; Association (BAUJA) while collecting news about ongoing movement of Saad killing.
“We will see you, the journalists of BAU, today or tomorrow,” warned the BCL BAU Unit President Mursheduzzaman Khan Babu to the members of BAUJA while backing to the TSC after collecting news regarding Saad killing movement at around 7:30pm.
“You will have to be accountable before the students of BAU after few days,” the BCL president threatened to the journalists.
“You are publishing partial news about Saad killing, why you are not taking steps for revealing the mystery behind Saad’s disappearance from Mymensingh Medial College Hospital and found death at Trauma Centre, a private clinic located on the district town,” the BCL president asked. “Why you are doing in the middle of the agitating students?” asked the BCL president blaming them as ‘participants’ of the movement.
BAUJA members called on the university proctor Prof Dr Md Shahuidur rahman Khan immediately after the incident and informed him about the threat given by BCL.
They (BAUJA members) also informed the vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Rafiqul Hoque about the incident over phone.
BAU VC and proctor, however, assured the journalists to take necessary steps regarding the issue.
Saad Ibney Momtaj Momtaj, a final year student and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist, died in a privet clinic on April 1, a day after his fellow BCL activists clobbered him with hockey sticks, iron rods and cricket stumps in his dormitory.
