Tobgay pays tribute to martyred FFs

The visiting Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay paid rich tribute to the memories of martyred freedom fighters by placing floral wreaths at the national memorial in Savar on Saturday.
Tshering reached at the national memorial in Savar at 10 am and placed the wreaths there commemorating the supreme sacrifices of the worthy sons of the soil who embraced martyrdom during the country’s great War of Liberation in 1971 for the cause of their motherland.
After placing wreaths, he stood for some time in solemn silence to pay respect to the martyred freedom fighters. A smartly turned-out contingent of three services presented a guard of honour to the Bhutanese PM when the bugles played the last post.
Later, he signed a visitor’s book and planted a sapling on the national memorial premises.
On his arrival at the memorial premises, the Bhutanese premier was received, among others, by Housing and Public Works Minister Mosharraf Hossain and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mojammel Haque and GOC of Savar cantonment.
Earlier, local administration took a four-tier security measures in and around the National Mausoleum ahead of the Bhutanese premier’s visit.
The Bhutanese Prime Minister arrived in Dhaka at 9 am on a three-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received her Bhutanese counterpart at the airport.
