Chittagong City Mayor Manzoor Alam distributed honourarium among 1442 religious persons including Imams, Muazins of Mosques and Saints of Mandirs in 41 wards of the city for rendering service in road lighting management of the city recently.
These religious pious were engaged for switching on and off of the road lights in respective wards within their jurisdictions. The honorarium was distributed at function arranged Theatre Institute Hall recently.
Following the engagement of the saints in these lighting management , City corporation saved Tk.1.74 cr annually from the power bills . The city mayor in his address in the honourarium giving function said following the involvement of the saints for switch on and off of the street lights, this huge amount of money saved this year. Sources said every Imams, Muazins and Saints of Mandirs were given honarium of Tk.1800 to each.
Among others chief executive officer of CCC Ali Ahmed, Panel Mayor Ln Mohammad Hossain, councilor Jaharlal hazari, Md. Giasuddin, secretary Rashid Ahmed were present on the occasion.
2 held with fake currency notes: Baizid Thana police of CMP rouned up two fake currency note traders from Oxygen crossing in the city recently .
Police on searching body recovered fake notes Tk. 66 thousand of 1000 Tk. Note each . The detained fake note traders identified as Md. Haroon (25) and Md.Jalal(26) . Both of them hail from Bhola and Barisal respectively. Officer In-Charge of Baizid thana Babul Chandra Banik told that 66 notes of 1000 Tk each was recovered from them .
Centring the coming Eid shopping , they came to Chittagong aimed at circulating these fake notes to the markets. A case has been lodged with the concerned thana in connection, sources said.
