Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) will start two mega projects for minimising the sufferings of the city dwellers in coming days.
The estimated cost of these two projects fixed at Tk.1500 crores , the general meeting of the corporation was told. It will construct bus terminal at Kulgaon area in city aimed at minimizing civic sufferings and stopping indiscriminate parking of public transports on main thoroughfares .
Besides, CCC has undertaken plans to construct a Conservancy Colony for the low paid conservancy staffs of the corporation in the city for resolving accommodation problems of their staffs. The estimated cost for these two projects finalized at Tk.1,464.47 crores.
Out of the total budget, Tk.1230.74 cr for bus terminal and Tk 233.74 cr for Conservancy staff Colony. City Mayor AJM Nasiruddin disclosed it while addressing the 35th general meeting of the corporation held recently . City Mayor said Kulgaon site for the bus terminal primarily selected but with the coordination meeting of Roads & Highways Deptt, CDA, BRTA, CMP and Deptt of Environment , site selection will be finalized .City Mayor also informed that the city roads consists of 320 kilometers and 37 approach roads will be developed very shortly including constructions of bridges . He further apprised the meeting that all ongoing projects of the corporation will be completed by next two years to turn the city into a green and clean city. He also mentioned the installation of 80 thousand LED street lights in the city .
Before 25th july next on 3rd anniversary of incumbent Mayor , all councilors have been directed to complete a ward based development pictures which will be placed before the city dwellers , the meeting was told.The meeting also decided to convene a meeting for developing roof garden in the roofs of all ward office, govt and Non-govt offices and educational institutions in city and simplication of issuing birth certificate to aspirants through online and coordination with the NGO programs very shortly.
Secretary of the CCC Md. Abul Hossain conducted the meeting duly attended by the ward councilors and the chairmen of all standing committees of the corporation and Departmental Heads .
City Mayor said after completion of the bus terminal construction, the severe traffic congestion in Oxygen crossing will be eased with maximum extents. City Mayor also urges the BRTA and CMP to launch effective campaign against non registered transports that plying within the city areas unhinderedly . City Mayor further apprised the meeting that, 250 workers have been engaged to repair the rain affected roads in the city by next one week through using Ashfault Plant .
He also directed the concerned department of the Corporation to complete the road renovation and repair works by the specific time without any excuse. While contacted Rafiqul Islam, PRO of CCC told that after site selection is finalised for the proposed terminal, the work will begin at early as possible.
