In the first six months of the 2021-22 tax year, income tax of Tk 7,392.97 crore has been collected in four tax areas of Chittagong. At this time of the last tax year, income tax of Tk 5,281.69 crore was collected in four tax zones of Chittagong.
As such, more than 2 thousand 111 crore 8 lakh taka income tax has been collected this time. Income tax collection has increased by about 40 percent.
According to the Income Tax Department, four tax zones in Chittagong have met the tax collection target in the first six months of the tax year, despite the Corona epidemic. The target for income tax collection in the first six months of the 2021-22 tax year was Tk 7,183.08 crore. 209 crore 17 lakh more than the target number of income tax has been collected in Chittagong.
Concerned officials said that the number of the TIN holders under Chittagong tax zone-1 is 2 lakh 27 thousand 201 people. In the first six months of the 2021-22 tax year, 70,006 people submitted their returns. Of these, 1,597 have submitted their returns online. The target for income tax collection was Tk 4,063.95 crore. 4 thousand 124 crore 6 lakh has been collected. Last year 3 thousand 18 crore 14 lakh taka was collected.
