Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered ‘hundi’ money amounting to Tk 7 lakh from Putkhali border area in Benapole Port Police Station on Wednesday night.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of BGB took position on the banks of the Ichhamati river in the border area, said Abul Hossain, Putkhali camp commander of Khulna 21 BGB Battalion.
Sensing presence of the border guards, the gang fled the scene leaving behind the bag containing the amount.
However, none was arrested in this connection.
The money will be deposited to Benapole Port Police Station, he said.
A case was filed.
