The canal re-excavation, expansion and renovation works began today by cleaning mud and waste from Chasma Khal in Gate No 2 area of Nasirabad this morning.

He requested the residents of the port city for not expecting more this season as it as it will take time to complete the process.

“The CDA has detected the most vulnerable areas of the city for water logging and we have started to work to clear the drainage system of those areas this year,” said Salam.
He said a total of 16 canals, among 36 canals will be re-excavated in the first phase. The canals which have been chosen for re-excavation include – Chaktan Khal, Birza Khal, Rajakhali Khal, Mirza Khal, Hijra Khal, Mohesh Khal, Mariam Bibi Khal, Khondakia Khal, Kalabagicha Khal, and Baromasi Khal.
He sought the cooperation of other public agencies such as the police administration, WASA, railway authority and PDB to make the project successful.
The CDA hoped that the project is scheduled to be completed by June 2020.
