State Minister for Water Resources Lt Colonel ((Retd) Nazrul Islam Hiru (Birpratik) MP as Chief Guest at a function at Sutkikandi area under Karimpur union of Narsingdi Sadar upazila, inaugurated the Canal Re-excavation Project of Arial Kha River, Haridoa River, Bramaputra River, Pahari river, branch river of Meghna , branch river of old Bramaputra and Bramaputra river ( Naryanganj part) on Saturday.
In the inaugural speech the State Minister said, the government has initiated a big move to re-excavate the rivers for restoring navigability of rivers and water logging.
24 Construction Engineer Brigade of Bangladesh Army will implement the project work with the superintendence of Bangladesh Water Development Board at a cost of Tk 500 cr. The works of the project are re-excavate of rivers 231.80 kilometer, protect of the bank rivers from waves hit 22.204km, protection work in bank of the rivers 1.150 km and strengthening work of 85 bridge.
According to work plan the implementation period of the work from April 2018 to December 2019.
