Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) announced annual budget of Tk 500.14 crore for the fiscal 2014-2015 without increasing the existing taxation rates for the city dwellers on Wednesday.
Rangpur City Corporation (RCC), Mayor Alhaj Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu announced the budget at a function arranged at ASOD Training Centre conference room in the city in the presence of RCC councilors, officials, local elites and journalists. Announcing the budget the RCC Mayor said “It is a development-oriented one aiming at providing better civic amenities to the city dwellers”.
The mayor in his budget speech said that the proposed budget attached special emphasis on infrastructure developments, education, health, social afforestation, removal of water logging, water supply, public toilets and sanitation in the extended areas of the city.
The proposed budget includes income of over Taka 39.75 crore from revenue earnings and Taka 460.38 crore as development assistances from the annual development programmes (ADP), special government allocations and different donor agencies and foreign- assisted projects, he said.
Under the proposed budget, over Taka 45.56 lakh will remain as surplus after meeting all costs of over Taka 499.68 crore for infrastructural development works and other activities to be conducted during the 2014-2015 fiscal for ensuring better services to the city dwellers.
