Staff Reporter :A gang of unidentified miscreants snatched at least Tk five lakh from a security officer of a garments factory by shooting in the city’s Rampura Hazipara area on Monday afternoon. The victim has been identified as Belayet Hossain, 50, of Bani Apparels Factory, police said. Quoting the staff of the factory and doctor, Rampura Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain said that a gang of miscreants intercepted Belayet near the Hazipara Petrol Pump on the way to the office after withdrawing the money from a local branch of Janata Bank. But he refused to give the money to the miscreants. After an altercation, the miscreants shot him and snatched the money from his possession. Belayet had been sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) immediately, the OC said. Police are investigating the matter, the police official said.
