Staff Reporter :
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has announced a bounty of Tk 500,000 for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators who leaked the questions of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations.
The minister took the decision in this regard at a meeting of National Monitoring Committee on Law and Order in the Education Ministry on Sunday.
It comes in the purview of an unstoppable spate of question paper leak ahead of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, which began from the first of this month.
Although, the Minister has been denying the allegation of question papers leakage since 2013, the question papers of all public examinations were leaked.
And even, the question papers of university admission tests were also leaked. “Tk 500,000 will be awarded to him who can accurately identify the perpetrators and hand them over to law enforcers,” the Minister said in the Secretariat on Sunday. “A committee will be formed to probe whether the questions leaked matched the papers, the effect it had on the examinees, whether anyone had been harmed by it, and how such an examination can be evaluated.”
Nurul Islam Nahid said a committee was formed to probe the allegations that the two SSC Bangla paper questions were leaked. The committee will ‘monitor’ all the SSC and equivalent examinations. The committee will be led by Technical and Madrasah Education Division Secretary Md Alamgir and be composed of officials from the Cabinet Division, the Local Administration Ministry, the Home Ministry, police, the Education Board and BRTC.
More officials may be added to the committee if necessary, Nahid said. Question sets and answers for the two Bangla papers in the SSC and equivalent exams went viral on the social media an hour or so before the start of both exams. The main questions in the exams matched the leak.
