LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam said the government has allocated Taka 4,550 crore under the Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED) for the development of rural infrastructure in the current fiscal 2013-14.
The minister told this on Thursday in the Jatiya Sangsad while replying to a question from ruling party lawmaker M Abdul Latif. The development programme, Syed Ashraful Islam said, included 6,712 kilometers pucca road, 31,301-meter bridge/culvert, 151 growth centers or bazars, 100 union parishad complexes, 43 upazila parishad complexes and 100 cyclone centers. A total of 107 development projects at an estimated cost Taka 37,980 crore were approved under the LGRD during the last government, he said. Of those, 65 projects have been already completed, he added.
