Both public and private enterprises have become gas bills defaulters as around Tk 4369.74 crore remained unrealized by different gas distribution entities till June 2016, Petrobangla sources said.
Due to mismanagement, this huge amount of money has been laying unrealized at both the government and private sectors. On the other hand, these gas distribution companies also spend a large amount of money for arranging Annual General Meeting (AGM), paying honorarium of board members, buying transport and overtime bills every year.
According to a Petrobangla data, Tk 1614.84 crore has remained unrealized at the state- owned factories and institutions while Tk 2754.89 crore at the private sector.
Power sector is in the top of gas bills defaulters list. The data showed that Tk 464.69 crore was unrealized to the public sector while 308.28 crore to private sector. The second highest of Tk 747.40 crore gas bills remained unrealized at the captive power plants.
The data showed that Tk 690 crore was unrealized at Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) sector, Tk 46.90 crore to public sector and Tk 633 crore at private sector CNG pumps.
A total of Tk 663 crore remained unrealized to industrial sector, Tk 81.58 crore to state owned industries while the rest Tk 581.67 crore to private industries.
In the households, Tk 558.73 crore was unrealized. Of which, Tk 412.43 crore at individual level and the rest Tk 146.29 crore at different households at state level.
Besides, Tk 64.89 crore was unrealized at fertilizer factories, Tk 95.3 crore commercial users level, Tk 4.74 crore at brick fields, Tk 3.56 level at tea gardens and Tk 45 crore in other sectors.
The unrealized money of different gas distribution entities is Titas Gas Distribution Company Limited — Tk 2428. 95 crore, Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company Limited at Bakhrabath — Tk 420.19 crore, Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited — Tk 326.62 crore, Pashchimanchal Gas Company Limited — Tk 85.93 crore, Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution System Limited – Tk 282.73 crore, Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited — Tk 389.81 crore.
But no visual step is seen to realize the big amount of unrealized money, it is alleged.
Talking with The New Nation Sangker Kumar Dey, head of accounts, Titas, said that his organisation Titas is the largest gas distribution company in the country. So, its unrealized amount is also big.
Even after realization, an amount of Tk 1000 crore always remain unrealized, he said.
