A sum of Tk 4.22 lakh of Grameen Bank(GB) was hijacked from Gostopatty in Fakirhat bajar under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat from an officer of the bank in a broad daylight on Wednesday. One of the hijackers named Yusuf was caught by the locals.
It is reported that on the day at 3 pm, Tarun Kanti, Second Officer of Masuakhali-Kulia branch of Grameen Bank under the same Upazila withdrew the amount from Fakirhat branch of Rupali Bank and when he reached Gostopatty on his way to Grameen Bank some 3 alleged hijackers suddenly appeared before him, snatched away the purse bag and fled away.
At that time some locals chased the hijackers and caught one of the named Yusuf. But the rest 2 managed to escape along with the money. In this connection a case was lodged with Fakirhat PS.
