Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), in a drive, seized one lakh pieces of yaba tablets worth Tk 3 crore from Jaliapara area under Teknaf upazila here early Sunday.
Commander of Teknaf-2 BGB Lieutenant Colonel Abu Jar Al Jahid confirmed the incident. He said, on a tip-off BGB members of Teknaf Sadar BOP raided the area and seized the yaba tablets.
Sensing the BGB men’s presence, the smugglers fled away.
Later, the seized items were deposited to the BGB battalion headquarters which will be destroyed in future, said the BGB official.
