In order to popularize online VAT, return submission and EFD, the Customs Excise and VAT Commissionerate in Chittagong collected revenue of Tk 35.77 crore at the third two-day VAT Fair. The fair was held on Wednesday and Thursday (March 10-11) at eight offices in Chittagong – Agrabad, Chandgaon, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Patiya, Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban.
3 thousand 585 returns have been submitted in the fair. The highest number of 980 returns has been filed in Agrabad division. Then there are 754 in Chattogram division, 631 in Cox’s Bazar division, 369 in Chandgaon, 361 in Khagrachari, 280 in Rangamati, 165 in Patiya and 45 in Bandarban. In all, 234 new registration applications have been received.
Customs, Excise and VAT Agrabad Divisional Officer. Shahinur Kabir Pavel confirmed this information to media. In addition to the fair, direct services will be provided on March 12-14 by setting up VAT booths in major shopping malls and various important markets in the city.
The VAT fair was organized in Chittagong for the first time on 11-12 January. 2,374 returns were submitted at the fair, 284 companies took new registrations and revenue of around Tk 19 crore was collected.Subsequently, 3,243 returns were submitted, 342 new registration applications were received and revenue collection was around Tk 32 crore at the VAT fair held for the second time on 10-11 February last.
