Businessman shot at: Tk 30 lakh snatched in city

A gang of unidentified miscreants shot at a person and snatched Tk 30 lakh from his possession in the city’s Mirpur Section-2 on Sunday afternoon. The victim has been identified as Mujibor Rahman, 40, son of Mobarak Ali, resident of Khilkhet area in the city, involved with land buying and selling business, police said.
Quoting the witnesses, Mirpur Model Police Station’s on-duty officer Sub-Inspector (SI) Asif Iqbal confirmed the matter and said that a gang of three to four miscreants shot at Mujibur near the Grameen Bank Head office in Mirpur at around 4:35pm and snatched Tk 30 lakh from his possession when he was returning the residence after selling a piece of a land.
Mujibor received bullets in the right side of the chest. The miscreants left the spot instantly by a motorcycle, the police official said.
The SI said that locals rushed to the spot after hearing his screams and sent him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) at around 5:00pm.
However, the duty doctors stated his situation to be very critical. The DMCH Police Outpost in-charge Mozammel Haque confirmed the information.
