In two separate incidents, some unidentified muggers snatched Tk 3 lakh by shooting an engineer and a trader in the city’s Adabar and Kamalapur areas respectively on Sunday.The victims have been identified as Monjurul Alam Mridul, 27, an engineer with a mobile-phone operator and trader Mostafa Kamal, police said. Quoting the witnesses, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Adabor Police Station Gazi Ruhul Imam said some unidentified miscreants shot at Mriudul and snatched Tk 250,000 from near the Adabor Police Station.He said that when Mridul reached near the Suchona Community Centre, three muggers riding a motorcycle intercepted him and tried to snatch his bag containing the money.As he tried to resist the muggers, they shot at his leg and speed away with the money.Mridul was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) immediately, the police official said.Quoting the witnesses, Motijheel Police station’s Sub-Inspector (SI) Rafiqul Islam confirming another incident said that a gang of muggers snatched Tk 50,000 by shooting in front of a bus counter near the city’s Kamalapur Railway Station at around 4:30pm. He added that six to seven youths intercepted him and took away the money by shooting at his leg in presence of several hundred people. He was also rushed to the DMCH, the police official said.
