A sum of Tk 264.67 crore was spent in the 10th parliamentary elections held on January 5 this year, Parliament was told Wednesday.Replying to a written question of independent MP M Rustam Ali Farazi (Pirojpur-3), the Law Minister Anisul Haq, Minister responsible for the Election Commission in Parliament, said that as per the allocations given so far, the cost for the election is Tk 264,67,49,469. Of the total amount, Tk 81.55 crore was spent for conducting the election while Tk 183.12 crore for the law enforcing agencies. Besides, the process is underway to give Tk 6 lakh for RAB and Tk 93.77 lakh for BGB.The Law Minister also said that the demand of Tk 4.76 lakh for the BGB for the re-polling is also under process.
