Rajshahi Correspondent :
Massive irregularities have been committed at Khulna-Mongla Rail Connecting Project under Divisional Engineer-1 causing a loss of Tk 25 crores to Railway sector of the Government since December 2018, it is widely alleged .
Sources said, after joining of Md Ramzan Ali as Chief Engineer in Western Zone of Bangladesh Railway in November , 2016 , the real and reputed contractors were being deprived of their rights in tender to get the works and most of the tenders were issued to his native contractors and relatives .
Sources said, works worth Tk 87 cr were done through LTM (Limited Tender Method) and 15 per cent bribe was taken in the name of high officials particularly Director General of Bangladesh Railway and thus Tk 25 cr was grabbed .
It is mentionable that e-tender was introduced in Bangladesh Railway (BR) on February , 2017 but it is a matter of surprise that no tender was invited following that system .
On the allegation of one Md Abul Kalam Azad of Rajshahi to the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) , the matter is being investigated and ACC has assigned AKM jayed hossain Khan . Latest progress of investigation is not known immediately.
