Members of Coast Guard Bangladesh in a drive seized around 60 lakh metres illegal current nets from different shops and warehouses in Chalkbazar area of the district town on Saturday evening.
Tipped off, a team of the coast guard conducted drives in the area and seized the nets worth Tk 21 crore, said a press release.
However, they could not arrest anyone in connection with the seizure.
A mobile court led by executive magistrates Ruhul Amin and Palash Kumar sealed off the shops and warehouses.
