Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Miah on Wednesday handed cheques of Taka 20 lakh to family members of 52 policemen, who were killed and injured on-duty.
The DMP chief destributed the cheques in a function of the DMP Headquarters in the capital’s Minto Road in the morning.
“It’s our duty to stand by the family of the police member if they die while doing duty,” said Asaduzzaman sending condolences to the families of slain police members.
DMP will provide all sorts of cooperation for treatment if any police member receives injury, he added.
DMP’s Traffic Welfare Fund provided Tk 11,78,000 to 47 policemen while the Prime Minister’s fund sanctioned Tk nine lakh to 5 policemen.
DMP Additional Police Commissioner (Administration) Md Shahabuddin Qureshi and Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics) YM Belalur Rahman, among others were present in the event.
