Tk 2.8 cr forex seized at HSIA

Members of Airport Armed Police (AAP) recovered foreign currencies worth around Tk 2.8 crore busting a foreign currency smuggling syndicate at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Tuesday night.
Sources at the airport said, Abdul Kadir Lalon,22, of Syedpur upazila in Nilphamari district, was scheduled to fly for Singapore by an aircraft of Singapore Airlines at midnight.

AAP Tanjina Akhter said acting on a tip-off, members of AAP challenged Lalon at the departure gate No-3 of Terminal-1 of the airport at about 10:00pm.
After searching his luggage, the law enforcers found foreign currencies including 8,15,000 Saudi riyals, 1,41,000 UAE Dirhams and 8350 Oman riyals.
