Authorities of a mosque in Kishoreganj town found a treasure estimated to be worth around Tk 2.38 crore in the eight charity vaults of the mosque.
The authorities of Pagla Mosque usually open the vaults, where devotees donate valuables, in every three months. But the members of the mosque committee opened the
vaults after five months on Saturday due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The vaults were opened in the morning and found money, gold, silver and foreign currencies.
Additional District Magistrate Abdullah Al Masud was present on behalf of the deputy commissioner while the authorities were opening the vault.
Pagla Mosque stands on the bank of River Naroshunda in Kishoreganj. The believers think their longing will come true if they donate their valuables to mosques. People from far and near visit the mosque and donate money and other valuables.
According to the suggestions of the committee members, local public representatives, and government officials, the money is used for the welfare of people, other mosques and madrasahs.
The mosque also includes a madrasah. Beside man, woman devotees also visit the mosque and say their prayers.
