Jagannath University (JnU) authorities have submitted the Development Project Proposal (DPP) for the acquisition and development of the second campus of JnU. In this, the cost of land acquisition and development was 1862 crore 98 lakh 39 thousand taka. The proposal was sent to the University Grants Commission on June 5.
JnU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Meijanur Rahman said that there would be a building for land acquisition, low land filling, pond mining, plantation and planning and engineering sections in the development project. Apart from this, the master plan of sophisticated university is included in this project.
There will be green vegetation and lake on the campus for beauty enhancement and natural environment. The whole campus will be divided into two parts by lake, which will be connected by 5 bridges.
However, VC said, “The project expires on 01 July 2018 to June 2020. And this will be completed within two years. “The expenditure incurred in the implementation can be increased, he added.
Registrar Wahiduzzaman said, “The cost of the project is 1862 crore decided but it can be exceed about 2000 crore.”
In previous ECNEC meeting, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that only 7 acres would not solve the problem of Jagannath University with 10 acres (which project presented by university authorities on 2017).
Universities should be developed by international standards, where all facilities, including university halls, campuses, academic buildings, libraries will be appeared.
The Prime Minister said that the amount of land required for this university would be provided.. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ordered for a complete plan to be presented to her.
Within a year of the instruction, the development project proposal (DPP) has been sent by the university authorities. The proposal for acquisition and development of 200 acres of land will be presented at ECNEC meeting.
Prof Dr Meijanur Rahman said, “All organizations have been approved for acquiring land.” Now the central land committee meeting of the Ministry of Land is waiting for approval.
“The land will be approved soon and the project for the second campus of Jagannath University will be completed according mentioned date.
